Lemongrass or Cymbopogon is a tall, thick, tropical grass with a citrusy aroma and a flavour of lemon and ginger. It is used in food and beverages, particularly in flavouring herbal teas, and is a prominent herb in Asian cuisines. Its fragrance, as well as its antiseptic properties, make it a component in disinfectants and soaps. It is also used in perfumery, insect sprays, and candles. Lemongrass is cultivated as a medicinal herb and one of its well-known uses is in aromatherapy. It is used fresh but is also available in several dried forms such as chopped, cut and sifted, as powder and also as an essential oil.
