Indigo is a natural dye that we obtain from the plant ‘Indigofera tinctoria’. The powder can be used as a natural and healthier alternative to synthetic/chemical hair dyes and is perfect for people with sensitive skin. We prepare Indigo powder by grinding the dried leaves of the Indigo plant. You can mix the paste with water and apply it on the hair and leave it on for 2-3 hours or overnight for a dark black look. Sometimes essential oils are also added to give it an extra fragrance. For best results, you can combine Indigo powder with Henna powder.
Hatton Naturals sources its certified organic Indigo Powder direct from small-scale farm co-ops in India. If you like this herb’s unique flavour, you may also enjoy our organic Henna Powder.

DID YOU KNOW?
The name of Indigo comes from the deep blue pigment in it. Although it has a blue pigment, it only gives dark brown/black hair colour when mixed with henna and not blue colour.
